- This application uses an open source Bootstrap responsive template and Leaflet, an open source Javascript map library, for mobile friendly applications.
- The demographic data is obtained from an ESRI shape file downloaded from the County of Kern GEODAT (Open Data and Portal for Smarter Communities) website and converted to geoJSON format.
- Neighborhoods are a consolidation of tract boundaries by Police Beat boundaries in Bakersfield. The outlying communities of Shafter, Delano, Wasco have been consolidated into the Ag Communities neighborhood. Graphs were generated by summing the proportion of populations having a statistic by neighborhood.
- Population Density statistic is the tract population, per acre of tract area, provided in the Demographic layer downloaded from the County.
